As a Healthcare Studies major at The College at Brockport, you will be encountering some of the most pressing issues of our time. Though the United States clearly outspends all other countries on medical care, it ranks low among nations on many important health indicators. Determinants of health include not only genetics and personal choices, but the impact of the physical and social environments in which we live. In that context, the Department of Healthcare Studies is taking an active role in training the leaders of tomorrow to address these very complex and intertwined determinants of health. The department brings together experts with a diverse mix of specialties, including substance abuse counseling, dual diagnosis, and health care administration.

Our faculty expertly guide you as you examine health-related problems in one of two tracks: the alcohol and substance abuse studies program and the health care administration program. Graduates end up in varied careers including community education, healthcare administration, and substance abuse treatment. Explore our site to learn how we can help you succeed.
