Course Requirements

For students who begin the program as first-year students:

The Honors curriculum is designed for students in any academic major. Students who begin the program as first-year students complete a total of eight Honors requirements that are integrated into their General Education and major program of study.

In the first semester, all Honors first-year students enroll in “Introduction to Honors” (HON 112, 4 credits). In addition to introducing students to the resources of the Honors College and The College at Brockport, this course hones students’ skills in research, reading, critical thinking, writing, and oral communication. In the final year, Honors students complete a senior thesis in their major, an independent scholarly or creative project developed under the guidance of a faculty member.
