Honors College Course Requirements

For students who begin the program as a transfer or current Brockport student:

The Honors curriculum is designed for students in any academic major. Students who are admitted into the Honors College at the midpoint of their undergraduate education—whether as a transfer or as a current Brockport student—are required to complete three upper-division Honors course requirements: Honors Contemporary Issues, Junior Colloquium (HON 395), and Honors Thesis (HON 490). Additional Honors courses may be taken to fulfill General Education requirements.

In their first semester as an Honors student, most transfers enroll in an Honors Contemporary Issues course, which hones skills in research, critical thinking, and writing. In their final year, Honors students complete a senior thesis in their major, an independent scholarly or creative project developed under the guidance of a faculty member.
