Rochester is the largest city near Brockport, located to the south of Lake Ontario. Its population is approximately 210,565 (in 2010) and is the third most populous city after New York City and Buffalo in New York State.

Rochester is also known as an international center of higher education, as well as for its medical and technological development. Additionally, it has been and continues to be the site of many important inventions and innovations in consumer products as we can see from taking a look at the area called Business District, the center of the city of Rochester being a home to large corporations such as Kodak, Bausch & Lomb, Xerox, and more.

Total enrollment of students under all SUNY schools is over 467,000. Nearly 40% of New York State high school graduates choose SUNY and 99.8% of New York residents live within 30 miles of a SUNY campus. SUNY alumni number over 2.7 million graduates who reside in New York State and throughout the world.

SUNY Brockport was a founding member of State University of New York (SUNY) system, which was established in 1948.

The State University of New York - Brockport offers practical classroom experiences. The average class size has 23 students, which allows students to have more interaction with faculty and participate more during class time. Additionally, the faculty to student ratio is 17 to 1. Faculties at State University of New York - Brockport are experts in their fields and help students as mentors, guides and advisors throughout their years at the University.


SUNY - Brockport is a nationally ranked and recognized educational institution. It has been recognized as one of the best colleges and best values in the Northeast according to The Princeton Review. It was also ranked in US News & World Report's "America's Best College's Guide" and Kiplinger's "100 Best Values in Public Colleges."

We are also accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB Accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Less than 5% of the world's 13,000 business programs have earned AACSB Accreditation.

Many of our other programs have earned prestigious accreditations, such as our Computer Science program which is accredited through the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Besides our Business program, our other programs of distinction include our programs in Dance, Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education (KSSPE), as well as in the Math and Sciences.
