About the International Student Festival
SUNY-Brockport began the annual International Festival in 2001. Since then it has grown in popularity every year. Tickets for the event sell out every year with over 200 guests. The Office of International Education is proud to host this annual event. The festival allows our international students to showcase different aspects of their culture to other students, faculty, staff and the community through food from around the world, performances and authentic international gift items that are auctioned off during a silent auction. Each year a different organization is identified to receive the proceeds of the auction.
The Spring 2014 theme was "A Night at the Olympic Village." Performances included a Capoeira martial arts demonstration, a traditional Chinese dance and original music by some of our Brazilian students.
The Spring 2015 theme was "A Celebration of Holidays from Around the World: A Multicultural Extravaganza." We had a traditional lion dance, a Bollywood performance and a student performing a traditional dance from Indonesia.
Last year's theme, "A Celebration of Global Leadership", recognized great leaders from around the world. It was held during President Macpherson's Inauguration Week.
