The Non-Certification option
in Athletic Administration is available to other students who hold relevant undergraduate
degrees and wish to pursue a career in athletic administration. Our curriculum develops
skills in reading and writing about applicable research in the field. Students have
an option to write a Synthesis for 3 credits or a Thesis for 6 credits.
Students in the Professional Certification Option
complete 21 additional required credits while students in the Non-Certification option
complete 18 required credits with a free elective. Coursework revolves around administration
of athletics, problem solving, sports marketing, budget and finance, event and facilities
management as well as a culminating internship experience of the students choosing.
The Athletic Administration Professional Certification option is available to students
who have completed an undergraduate degree in physical education and are eligible
for or hold NYS initial certification in physical education.
Internships have included field-work in high schools, colleges and universities and
semi-pro and professional sport teams. Students are given great latitude in choosing
