Adapted Physical Education (concentration)

The concentration in Adapted Physical Education prepares the graduate for a teaching position in the filed, provides a background for graduate study and provides elective opportunities for physical education majors. Students must apply for admission into the program.

Athletic Training

CAATE accredited major. Includes supervised clinical experiences in athletic training room settings and field settings. Students are assigned to approved clinical instructors (ACI's) in order to gain "hands-on" experience in a variety of clinical settings.

Exercise Science

Exercise Science is the study of how the human body responds and adapts to exercise.  In practice, exercise physiologists are responsible for designing and implementing exercise programs for a wide breadth of populations. 


The Kinesiology major is constructed upon the cornerstones of motor skill and physical fitness. Students learn the principles of acquiring skill and fitness, seek to improve their own levels of skill and fitness, and learn to appreciate the contributions of skill and fitness to human development.

Physical Education Teacher Education

Teacher education major in physical education and sport provide pedagogical experiences for students who are interested in obtaining certification to teach P-12 physical education and or teach adapted physical education and coach in schools. The teacher education major leads to the New York state initial teaching and coaching certification for P-12.

Sport Management

Curriculum is supplemented by coursework options in business, communication and other related fields. Students intern in areas of personal professional interest.

Coaching Minor

Notably for non-majors and liberal arts majors who are interested in obtaining coaching certification in athletics. Students are certified by the New York State Department of Education to coach in schools.
