Mr. Wenzke grew up in Peekskill, NY and moved to the Rochester area in 1973. Upon completing his degree in Business Administration at The College at Brockport (1978), he began a 30-year career in the insurance industry, primarily with Hatch-Leonard/ Markin-Shaw, Inc.
In 1996 he became the Managing Partner/CEO of Hatch-Leonard and led the organization for nine years until the company was sold to First Niagara Financial Group in 2005. During his leadership tenure, Hatch Leonard grew from a local agency to a statewide organization with offices in four cities. The company was recognized in the Rochester Top 100 six times and grew five-fold under his leadership.
After the sale of the company to First Niagara in 2005, Mr. Wenzke was named CEO of their insurance subsidiary, First Niagara Risk Management, one of the 60 largest insurance agencies in the country. Once again he led their growth into new markets and specialties.
In 2008, Mr. Wenzke retired from the insurance industry in order to dedicate more time to his community interests in urban education and healthcare. While very active and serving on numerous community boards, he was again called upon for his business expertise and formed Distinct Strategies LLC in 2009 through which he provides leadership and strategy coaching.
In 2012, he served as the interim CEO of Sigma Marketing Analytics and then Chairman of the Board. He has served on numerous community and corporate boards, sharing his expertise on strategy.
Mr. Wenzke and his wife, Caryl, have three children and four grandchildren. They split their time between the Rochester area and their residence in Naples, FL. They enjoy travel, golf and being active in their community.
