Major Declaration

Majors and Careers

Students should declare a major no later than the end of their second year. To formally declare a major you will need to complete a major declaration form and submit it to the academic department of your intended major. Once you have completed the major declaration process, the department will assign an academic advisor.

As a second-year student, you will begin to experience increasingly more difficult courses as you progress in your major. It is important for you to develop study and learning strategies to enhance your academic experience. he SLC offers a variety of programs that we believe are particularly helpful for second-year student success.

Academic Advisement


Academic Advisement provides students with information and advice concerning academic policies and procedures, evaluates transcripts from other institutions to determine Brockport credit, conducts the College's probation and dismissal program, coordinates the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) and provides information and advice concerning academic eligibility for financial aid.

Leadership Development Program

One of Brockport's most unique and exceptional leadership opportunities, the LDP provides students with an chance to make great strides in personal and professional leadership growth. Work your way through the three levels of Leadership Certification, and you will have an amazing experience and accolades to add to your resume and professional career.
