As you begin to make plans to attend the Ellsworth Express Bus Trip as an accepted student to The College at Brockport, here are some frequently asked questions that will help you finalize your decision:
What is Ellsworth Express?
Ellsworth Express is the name of our accepted student overnight bus trip for students from NYC/Long Island and surrounding areas. This trip will give you the unique opportunity to stay overnight on campus and get a sneak peek of college life at Brockport. The experience will help you decide whether or not The College at Brockport is the right choice for you. Like most of our students who have participated in this overnight stay, we hope you will make The College at Brockport your home away from home and join the ranks with our current students as they pursue something greater.
How long is the trip?
It will take approximately six to seven hours each way. See directions to Brockport.
Where will the bus depart?
The bus will be departing from the vicinity of the New York Public Library (Manhattan) on 5th Avenue between 41st and 42nd Street. Please meet the Brockport Admissions representatives between the two lion statues. We will leave New York City on Friday, April 5, at 8:30 am sharp and will arrive in Brockport at approximately 3:30 pm.
Do I have to register for this trip?
Yes, please register online. Please note that a registration fee of $40 (payable online) must be submitted along with your registration prior to the event, which must be received by March 30.
Is there a bathroom on the bus?
Yes, the bus is equipped with a bathroom.
Will the bus make any stops?
Yes, the bus will make one stop each way during the trips to and from Brockport.
Will lunch be provided on the bus trip?
No, you will have to bring money to purchase meals/snacks on the trip. However, you will be provided a boxed lunch prior to your departure from The College at Brockport on Saturday. We suggest you bring a minimum of $40 to purchase items on your trip to and from Brockport. You will also have the opportunity to visit the campus bookstore. You may also choose to bring your tuition/housing deposit in the event that you decide Brockport is the college for you.
What about meals once I arrive at The College at Brockport?
Meals will be provided at no cost to you during your stay in Brockport. Please visit basc1.com for in-depth information about our dining facilities on campus.
Where will I be staying on campus?
Students on the bus will be staying with current Brockport student hosts.
What activities will we participate in while on campus?
You will be involved in a variety of activities including a student panel, cultural events, and much more!
Will we be taken on a tour of the campus?
Yes, you have the opportunity to take a tour of the campus and will see areas such as the residence halls, library, student union, athletic facility, fitness center, and more.
Can a friend or family member ride the bus with me?
Unfortunately, no, the bus trip is reserved for students who have been admitted to The College at Brockport.
If I know someone on campus, can I stay with them instead of in my assigned room on campus?
No. All students on the bus trip are required to stay with their assigned host on campus.
Can I bring a camera with me to take pictures?
You most certainly can bring a camera with you. You may bring additional electronic devices such as an iPod, iPad, or laptop. Please be aware that it will be your responsibility to ensure the safe storage of your belongings, as the College will not be liable for the loss or damage of these items.
Please bear in mind:
- Although you have been accepted to The College at Brockport, you will be GUESTS on our campus, April 5-6, 2019.
- As our guests, you will participate with the group in a set schedule and you DO NOT have the same freedom as our current students.
- This trip is intended to give you an opportunity to see what our campus has to offer and to determine if Brockport is the right fit for you.
