Dear Brockport Community:
We would like to provide you with an update on our plans to celebrate the Class of 2021. In addition to a virtual ceremony that will premiere on “YouTube Live” at 3 pm on Saturday, May 22, we will be offering a series of six “Grad Walks,” which will take place in the SERC. These mini ceremonies will offer our graduates the opportunity to have their name announced, walk the stage in their caps and gowns, and have their photo taken.
Grad Walks will take place at the following dates and times:
Monday, May 17: 2 pm; 7 pm
Tuesday, May 18: 10 am; 5 pm
Wednesday, May 19: 2 pm; 7 pm
Each Grad Walk will be open to both undergraduate and graduate students, who will have the opportunity to register for the ceremony of their choice (as space permits). Registration information will be coming soon.
Each Grad Walk will be livestreamed on www.brockport.edu, allowing friends and family to watch the event virtually and celebrate their student’s success. Sadly, capacity restrictions mean that faculty won’t be participating in the ceremonies in our traditional way, but we encourage our faculty and staff to participate in the ceremonies as volunteers, and the process for signing up will be shared soon.
Of course, this is not how we celebrate our traditional Commencement; COVID-19 has meant we’ve had to shift so many of our celebrations and events this year. We wish things were different. However, we are committed to making these opportunities a fitting celebration of the Class of 2021. We are so incredibly proud of all our graduates have accomplished under these trying circumstances.
