General Mechanic (Temporary) Vacancy at the REOC

Rochester EOC - Business Affairs Division General Mechanic - Grade 12 TEMPORARY POSITION: January 23, 2018 through May 31, 2018. Monday-Friday, 6:30 am to 3 pm. Some Saturdays may be required. Line #: 43078


Position Summary:

Performs mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building maintenance including troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and building systems. Independently performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled job duties.

Essential Functions:

•Performs scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, and maintains work order request records.

•Answers maintenance calls in a professional and timely manner.

•Plans and coordinates work load, and diagnoses problems.

•Works proficiently with methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which assigned.

•Understands the standards of plumbing and electrical code regulations.

•Reads and interprets plans, diagrams, architectural blueprints and specifications.

•Supervises two cleaners and one janitor.

•Understands and carries out written and oral instructions.

Operating Needs:

•Possess a valid NYS Driver’s License

Minimum Qualifications:

•Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Minimum of one-year supervisory experience.

•The ability to be a self-motivated team player, and have the desire to work in a fast paced environment.

•Excellent time and attendance records.

•Demonstrated proficiency in carpentry, electrical and plumbing, and HVAC systems.
