Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month 2018

In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month 2018, members of ALAS and the Faculty/Staff of Color Organization invite all Brockport community members to join them in honoring the contributions and milestones of the Hispanic/Latinx culture.

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 – October 15, the members of the Association of Latinx American Students (ALAS) and the Faculty/Staff of Color Organization, wish to pay special homage to our ancestors, history, culture, and people. We invite members of the Hispanic/Latinx community and the larger Brockport community to pay tribute, celebrate, and recognize the many historic and national contributions of the Hispanic/Latinx community in building a better America and College at Brockport.

The members of ALAS and F/S of Color Organization are grateful for the influence and willpower of our ancestors and the many Hispanic/Latinx pioneers driving change today. We are proud to speak in our native tongue here at the College and abroad, honoring the legacy of our heritage and cultural identity. As members of the Hispanic/Latinx culture, we commit to teaching others who we are, but also charge others to remain open to listening and learning from us in return.

We are leaders, scholars, innovators, colleagues, neighbors, friends, and community members in pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness as all members of our college’s vibrant, multicultural community. On behalf of both organizations, we say thank you for supporting and embracing our community, honoring the Hispanic/Latinx culture not only during Hispanic Heritage Month, but everyday.

Feliz mes de la herencia hispana!

(Happy Hispanic Heritage Month)
