The Department of Computing Sciences at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position to begin August 2019. We seek a faculty member interested in teaching and conducting research in one or more of the following areas: Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Systems, Software Engineering and Development (especially on mobile platforms). We particularly welcome applications from scholars from populations historically underrepresented in the academy and/or who have experience working in diverse populations.
The successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems; conduct high quality research; supervise students in research and project activities; advise and mentor students; and participate in service to the department, college, university and community.
• PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline. ABD candidates will be considered and must earn their doctorate within 6 months of hire. Degree must be from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
• Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in Computer Science and/or Computer Information Systems.
• Ability to develop new courses in areas of specialization.
• Ability to develop and maintain an active research program.
• Willingness and desire to mentor students from diverse educational backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage faculty, staff and students in a collegial and collaborative manner.
• Prior teaching experience at the college level.
• Demonstrated commitment to exemplary teaching.
• Demonstrated interest and ability to teach classes in one or more of the following areas: Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Systems, Software Engineering and Development (especially on mobile platforms).
The department is composed of 10 full-time faculty members who have varied interests in teaching and research. We have a large undergraduate program serving approximately 260 majors and 30 minors. The Department is home to two ABET accredited programs in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems, with the Computer Information Systems program being the first such program accredited in the State of New York.
