History Professor, Dr. Katherine Clark Walter, published a new book, The Profession of Widowhood (2018)
Dr. Katherine Clark Walter of the History Department published a new book.
Please join the Department of History in congratulating Dr. Katherine Clark Walter on her book publication, The Profession of Widowhood: Widows, Pastoral Care, and Medieval Models of Holiness (Oct 1, 2018, Catholic University of America Press). It explores how the idea of 'true' widowhood was central to pre-modern ideas concerning marriage and of female identity. “This study,” according to a scholarly review, “will be fundamental reading for scholars seeking to understand the church's complex relationship with widows, and with women, during the Middle Ages."
