The Political Science and International Studies Department at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Position is available August 2019.

Major Responsibilities

• Teach courses including Introduction to International Relations, American Foreign Policy, National Security, and Middle Eastern politics.

• Engage in student advisement and recruitment.

• Coordinate the international studies major.

• Update INS course list.

• Engage in scholarly activity.

• Participate in service to the department, school, and college.

Required Qualifications

Candidate must have Ph.D. in Political Science or International Studies from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university. ABD candidates will be considered. Must be able to teach introduction to International Relations and upper division I.R. to include National Security and American Foreign Policy.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to contribute to upper division comparative courses (outside Europe) and departmental Research Methods offerings.

Department Description

The department has two undergraduate majors, Political Science and International Studies. The department also offers courses that contribute to the general education component as well as required courses for the colleges History and Criminal Justice majors. The department places a high priority on student engagement and offers a broad set of internship and study abroad programs including an EU Simulation program, a Pre-Law program. Students also have the opportunity to enroll in a 4+1 BA/MPA program. The department has eight tenure or tenure track professors and serves 175 students across the two majors.

The College at Brockport, State University of New York, serves a diverse student body of over 7,100 undergraduate and 1,100 graduate students enrolled in 50 undergraduate majors and more than 50 masters’ programs, teacher certification programs and advanced graduate certificates supported by more than 750 instructional faculty and professional staff.
