Library Hosts Successful Veterans Transcribe-athon

Drake Library hosted an American Soldier Transcribe-athon on November 13, 2018 as part of Veterans week activities. Thirty students from two classes participated in transcribing handwritten surveys from soldiers during World War II.

Classes in Public History taught by J. Spiller, and Aging in America taught by J. Dauenhauer participated in transcribing primary source surveys from soldiers during World War II.

The American Soldier in World War II is a crowdsourced transcription project that is part of a collaborative effort between Virginia Tech, the National Archives, and Zooniverse, with funding from NEH.

Brockport students contributed 200 commentaries in 2 and a half hours.

You can also participate on your own at any time. See the links below if you’d like to take part in this ongoing crowdsourcing project.
