SUNY-Venezuela Higher Education Engagement Initiative

The State University of New York (SUNY), through its Center for Collaborative Online International Learning, invites professors from among the SUNY COIL Network to apply for participation in the SUNY-Venezuela Higher Education Engagement Initiative.

The SUNY-Venezuela Higher Education Engagement Initiative 18-month long program, in support of Venezuelan higher education, will develop new international partnerships for faculty professional development and provide students with intercultural engagement opportunities within the curriculum. The Venezuelan and SUNY participants will create COIL team-teaching modules that will enable them to conduct joint teaching for part of their course semesters, through videoconferencing or other online tools.

The COIL model brings professors from two (or more) cultures together to develop a shared project for their students, emphasizing experiential and collaborative student learning. Such collaborations range from 5-12 weeks and provide students with new context for the curricular materials, while also encouraging the development of cross-cultural awareness.

Deadline to apply is February 1, 2019. For more information on requirements for participation, benefits for participants, and how to apply, please see the attached document and web link.
