Brockport Symphony Orchestra Winter/Spring 2019 Rehearsals to Begin

Please note: The Thursday, January 31st rehearsal has been cancelled due to the weather. There will be a Zoom Video/Audio Call for members (email brockportco@yahoo.com for details). Rehearsals will resume on Thursday, February 14.

Winter/Spring 2019 rehearsals will now begin on Thursday, February 14, at 7:30 pm in the Music Room at Cornerstone Academy as the orchestra prepares for its award-winning "Songs of the Empire State" Concert Tour.

Celebrating its ninth innovative season, the Brockport Symphony Orchestra is not affiliated with the Department of Theatre and Music Studies. This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts.

The Brockport Symphony Orchestra, founded and directed by Jonathan Allentoff '14 (M. A., Stony Brook '19) and professor emeritus Dr. William Hullfish, will begin Winter/Spring rehearsals on Thursday, January 31, at 7:30 pm in the Music Room at Cornerstone Academy, 60 Holley Street at Utica (adjacent to campus and on the campus shuttle). We have select openings available, and we would love to welcome you into our musical family with our internationally-acclaimed concertmaster Jaesun Han, M. M. To join, please send your name and instrument to: brockportco@yahoo.com

The Brockport Symphony Orchestra will be preparing for their "Songs of the Empire State" Concert Tour with the Smithsonian Gold Medal Artists of the Golden Eagle String Band and professor emeritus Dr. Bill Andrews. Celebrating the 250th birthday of New York Governor DeWitt Clinton, the three performances will take place on Thursday, March 21, 7:30 pm at the Brookdale Brockport Community Room, Friday, March 22, 7:30 pm at Rochester's Clover Center for the Arts, and Sunday, March 24, 3 pm at the Livingston County Auditorium. The orchestra will travel to the Livingston County Auditorium on a deluxe motor coach from Niagara Scenic Tours, and the transportation will be complimentary for Symphony members and their family and friends.

In addition, the orchestra will perform its Spring Celebration Concert on Sunday, April 28, 2018, at 4 pm in the historic sanctuary at St. Luke's Episcopal Church featuring an exciting line-up of nationally-acclaimed artists.

Allentoff recently returned from the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, where he appeared on four panels regarding the future of music education, performed on viola with ASTA colleague Charles Laux, met with the string artists of the Pacifica Quartet, NAfME President Kathleen Sanz, and the nation's leading conductors, and participated in conducting workshops with Brian Balmages, Dr. Eric Allen, and Dr. Shanti Simon, among others. He is excited to share his new insights with everyone in the Brockport Symphony Orchestra.
