Dr. Alexia Buono performed and presented at AERA 2019
Alexia performed a remixed excerpt of her arts-based educational research in a symposium with two of her fellow colleagues.
On Monday, April 8, Dr. Alexia Buono performatively presented a session called "Understanding Data Differently Through Bodily Writing" in a larger symposium entitled "Knowing Our Research Differently: Multimodal and Arts-Based Methods of Data Analysis and (Re)Presentation." She performed a 10-minute excerpt of her research on young children's bodily experiences with a mindfully somatic pedagogy, which included five minutes of a somatic meditation and five minutes of a choreographed dance. Her colleagues, Dr. Chaz H. Gonzalez from Alabama A&M University and Dr. Nichole Barrett from the University at Buffalo - SUNY, likewise presented upon arts-based methods of bodily writing, performative inquiry, and digital video composition in educational doctoral research.
