Dr. Donna Kowal (Honors and CMC) and Dr. Barb LeSavoy (WMS) co-presented a paper at The Technologies of Human Rights Representation: A SUNY Conversations in the Discipline at SUNY Binghamton

Dr. Kowal and Dr LeSavoy's paper is titled, "Contested Memories: Memorializing and Digitizing Holocaust Trauma"

Dr Kowal and Dr. LeSavoy's research looks at ways Holocaust memorials recognize histories of collective trauma that intersect with contemporary digital and rhetorical practices. Looking at Holocaust memorials in Germany and Poland, the paper argues that technology disrupts, alters, and intervenes ways we interact with and archive memories of trauma and ways we make meaning out of human rights work.

Dr. Kowal and Dr. LeSavoy presented the paper as part of a SUNY Conversations in the Disciplines Conference held at SUNY Binghamton, April 11-13, 2019.
