Eison Receives Regional Award
Associate Professor Carvin Eison Won Distinguished News/Media Professional of the Year Saturday Night at the Rochester Black Men Achieve Awards.
Filmmaker Carvin Eison, associate professor in the Department of Journalism, Broadcasting and Public Relations, won an award for his work as General Manager at Rochester Community Television (RCTV) Saturday night.
He received the Distringuished News/Media Professional of the Year Award at the Rochester Black Men Achieve (BMA) Awards Black Tie Gala at the Riverside Convention Center.
According to BMA, "This award is given to an individual Black Male in recognition of his remarkable talent as a news/media personality as well as his ability to use his talent to uplift Rochester’s Black Community. The winner of this award recognizes the necessity to pursue social justice and civil rights thus using his influence to be hands on in the community to promote and work towards equity and equality. His philanthropy is in alignment with the mission and vision of Black Men Achieve and he exhibits the ideal characteristics of a BMA awardee: encouraging, empowering, and community-oriented. This award is limited to Black Men in print, radio, and television living in and impacting the greater Rochester area."
