UUP Waiver of Compensatory Time for Holiday Work

The 2016-2022 Agreement with New York State and United University Professions provides UUP employees the option to choose additional compensation instead of compensatory time off for time worked on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

Beginning in 2019, UUP employees will be provided with an open period each year in which they can choose to be compensated for time worked on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. The open period for 2019 is July 1 – August 15, 2019. During the open period, employees in the UUP bargaining unit may elect to choose additional compensation instead of compensatory time off for time worked on those holidays.

UUP employees who wish to receive additional pay instead of compensatory time off must complete the UUP Waiver of Compensatory Time for Holiday Work Initial Waiver 2019 form and return it to the Payroll Office by August 15, 2019. Employees who wish to continue receiving compensatory time off for time worked on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day do not need to complete the waiver form.

UUP employees will continue to receive compensatory time for working on all other State observed holidays.
