Drake Memorial Library is planning a Transcribe-a-thon that is open to the public as part of “The American Soldier in World War II”, an online digital humanities project on Tuesday, November, 12 from 5- 6 pm. Students in Morag Martin’s History class and Jason Dauenhauer’s Social Work class will be participating during the day, and we have reserved 5-6 pm in the Kiefer Room for other faculty, staff, students, and community members to join us in helping to transcribe handwritten primary source surveys from soldiers in World War II.
"The American Soldier in World War II" is a crowdsourced transcription project that is part of a collaborative effort between Virginia Tech, the National Archives, and Zooniverse, with funding from NEH and others. Last year, Brockport students contributed 200 commentaries in only two and a half hours.
Refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.
