Daniel Goebel Named Dean of the School of Business and Management

Provost Katy Heyning is pleased to announce that after a national search, Dr. Daniel J. Goebel has accepted the position as Dean of the School of Business and Management. Dr. Goebel will begin his duties at the College on January 9, 2020.

Goebel currently is Professor of Marketing at Northern Arizona University (NAU). He has over 21 years of experience in higher education and 10 years of experience in business prior to entering academe. He has served in a variety of leadership roles, including dean of the NAU Franke College of Business, associate dean of the Illinois State University (ISU) College of Business, and acting department chair of the ISU marketing department. He has made contributions to enrollment and student success initiatives and to faculty and staff recruitment and retention efforts through development of academic and co-curricular programs, professional development opportunities, and fundraising.

Goebel holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, an MBA from Illinois State University, and a B.S. in Business (Accounting) from Eastern Illinois University. His research in sales and organizational buying is published in several top journals and he is an award-winning teacher.

Provost Heyning would like to thank the search committee chair, Dean Thomas Hernandez, the entire search committee, and everyone in the School of Business and Management who was involved in the search for a new leader. She also extends her deepest thanks to Interim Dean Susan Stites-Doe for her outstanding service to our community during the past year and a half.
