EOP is Searching for a Summer Program Chemistry Instructor

The Arthur O. Eve Opportunity for Higher Education Program and The College at Brockport is committed to offering the highest educational opportunities to New York State high school graduates and GED holders who do not meet regular applied admissions

Position: CHM 099 Instructor in the EOP Summer Program

CHM 099 is a developmental, non-credit bearing course. Upon successful completion of this course, students should have a basic understanding of the following:

• chemical bonding, properties of solids, liquids, gases, and solutions;

• chemical equations, and quantitative problem solving of applying algebraic mathematical concepts when performing chemical calculations;

• the methods scientists use to explore natural phenomena, including observation, hypothesis development, measurement, and data collection, experimentation, evaluation of evidence, and employment of mathematical analysis of laboratory skills that allow a student to perform experiments and analyze data based on the concepts listed above; and

• common laboratory techniques.

The EOP Pre-freshman Summer Program runs from July 5 to August 1, 2020. It runs Monday through Friday, roughly 8 am-noon, plus some afternoon hours. Wages are commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in chemistry or a related field

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate would have experience working in a diverse environment with students representing a variety of backgrounds.
