Assistant Professor Alex Smith Gave Two Talks in February
Smith presented an invited lecture and a DeTOUR in the month of February.
Dr. Alex Smith (assistant professor) gave two talks in February.
The first was an invited lecture at Brandeis University on Wednesday, February 12, for the Department of Classical Studies titled, “Resistance, Persistence, Indigeneity: Ritual Practice and Daily Life in the Balearic Islands During Classical Antiquity.” The talk was for an audience of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students from Brandeis.
Dr. Smith also gave a DeTOUR at the Memorial Art Gallery with Jessica Gasbarre on Thursday, Feb. 20, called, “Death, Decay, and Discovery,” which focused on the archaeological collections of the art gallery.
DeTOURs are off-beat, museum tours that are ticketed, special invents that involve a guest speaker who is an expert on a subject (such as archaeology in the case of Dr. Smith). This was Dr. Smith’s third DeTOUR.
