Dr. Kathleen Colantonio-Yurko and Dr. Kathleen Olmstead Present at the Literacy Research Association Conference in Tampa, Florida
Recently, Dr. Kathleen Colantonio-Yurko collaborated with colleagues Henry “Cody” Miller and Jennifer Cheveallier of the University of Florida to present research regarding text selection and YAL in their roundtable discussion: Rigor, Relevance and Resistance: Young Adult Literature in Detracked Secondary ELA Courses.
Dr. Kathleen Olmstead also presented at the Literacy Research Association conference with her colleague Dr. Bobbie Kabuto from Queens College, CUNY. Their paper, entitled Reclaiming Meaning in Writing Development, centered around the ways in which young writers’ use of genre gives form to social practices.
