Minimum Salary: $60,250
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for some major federal, state and institutional aid programs as well as certain functions/operations of the Financial Aid Office. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid serves as the primary administrator/resource lead for: - Student Employment/Federal College Work-Study Program - Extraordinary Academic Scholarship Program - Institutional Emergency Loan Program - New York State Excelsior Scholarship The duties include being the primary contact for these programs, monitoring new regulations and requirements, training staff and reporting. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will also be responsible for the financial aid leveraging process for the institution, working with and coordinating the efforts of the Financial Aid Office, Undergraduate Admission and Institutional Research Analysis. Finally, the Assistant Director of Financial Aid will assist the Director in all aspects of compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations and guidelines including training and reporting functions.
A. Essential Functions:
Financial Aid leveraging
Serve as the institutional lead for the leveraging of financial packaging
Coordinate efforts with Financial Aid, Undergraduate Admissions and Institutional Research Analysis
Compile data and statistics as necessary for analysis and interpret data
Develop recommendations/policy changes
Research and draft reports on analysis as requested
Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with all federal, state and institution regulations and guidelines for financial aid
Research regulations, policies, and applicable laws to answer complex questions, as they arise
Oversee and assist with the collection of data or filing reports regarding compliance
Coordinate Student Employment/Federal College Work-Study Program
With clerical support from Career Services, administer student employment at the College coordinating as necessary with any third parties.
Maintain knowledge of and remain current on all state, federal and local regulations and guidelines in this area.
Supply and ensure validity of necessary data or reports as required
Serve as the principal contact for students, staff or other relevant parties including any required outreach.
Ensure required paperwork is completed timely and accurately.
Administer the Extra Academic Scholarship Program
Serve as the primary contact for these scholarships
Update publications or terms of award as necessary
Monitor and ensure student compliance with the terms of award including sending warning letters where necessary
Direct implementation of any required programming updates
Annually review continuing student eligibility as well as sending any required termination notices
Review any student appeals in consultation with the Director
Supply statistical analysis/reports as requested
Administer the institution’s emergency loan program
Serve as the primary contact and coordinator for this program
Establish and follow procedures as necessary to ensure compliance
Train Financial Aid Office staff in the administration of this program
Supply necessary data/reports as required.
Serve as primary resource for the Financial Aid Office for the New York State Excelsior Scholarship
Maintain knowledge of all state and local policies and procedures
Train Financial Aid Office staff and serve as primary resource
Coordinate efforts of Financial Aid Office with departments in the administration of the program
Provide data/reports as requested
B. Non-Essential Functions:

Customer service experience
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Proficient with various forms of statistical analysis and ability to implement changes based on associated research
Ability to interpret and implement complex regulations or policies
Ability to multitask
Ability to work in a multicultural environment
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited US Dept of Education or internationally recognized institution
Proficient with computer based office applications
Experience with Financial Aid compliance
Experience with Financial Aid leveraging
Experience with Student Employment Federal Work-Study
Knowledge of Banner or other Student Information System
Master’s degree from an accredited US Dept of Education or internationally recognized institution
