Single Sign-on for Web Banner and Forms Banner!

As of today, current students, faculty, and staff will now be able to log in to Web Banner and/or Forms Banner with their Brockport Network ID and Brockport Network Password.

What is Single Sign-on?

Single sign-on (SSO) is an authentication process that permits a user to enter one name and one password to access multiple web-based applications.

What does that mean?

Current students, faculty, and staff will now be able to log in to Web Banner and/or Forms Banner with their Brockport Network ID and Brockport Network Password. You will no longer need to log in with your Banner ID and PIN for Web Banner or your NetID and Oracle Password for Forms Banner.

Within the same browser window, you will be able to move between any of the Banner Applications for Production and Test (PROD/TEST) without the need to re-log in. The new authentication server will monitor the security and access to each of the Banner applications. SSO authentication is reset daily.

What changes will I see?

Web Banner Login:

The Web Banner link (from the Brockport website’s QuickLinks menu) will now direct you to a page where you will select the login to Web Banner for faculty and staff. You will then log in to Web Banner with your Network ID and Network Password.

Web Banner Logout:

Closing your browser session (red ‘X’ in top right corner) will log you out of Web Banner but will allow your authentication for SSO to continue, and you will not be required to re-enter your ID/password to return to Web Banner. Clicking the “exit” link, will log you out of SSO, and you will be required to log in with your credentials to access the Banner system.

Forms Banner Login:

Please see attached document for instructions.

When will Banner SSO begin?

Launch of Banner SSO will occur on January 17, 2018. Implementation and changes required to provide Banner SSO for applicants, alumni, and former students will occur at the end of the spring semester. Other web application logins will be implemented and migrated to take advantage of the new SSO features in the near future.

Important Reminders:

• Please close all Banner sessions and browsers at the end of the day

• Please remove all previous Banner bookmarks and shortcuts
