Budget Title: Staff Assistant
Local Title: Development Associate
Minimum Salary: $46,312
Plan, execute, and manage logistics for events and programs, including major events such as: Winter Gala, Alumni Showcase, President's Donor Recognition Luncheon, Benefactors and Scholars Reception, Mornings with the Professors, Art of Fact, Writers Voice, and the Faculty and Staff Campaign Kick-Off
Reserve and confirm parking space for each event venue
Coordinate and verify the execution of special event catering and dining services
Track special event expenditures and provide final event budget reporting
Design and disseminate event invitations and program announcements
Request and verify guest lists from Advancement Services
Oversee special event operations including audiovisual capacity, guest registration, and guest reception
Responsible for the coordination of travel for guest speakers, which may include greeting, arranging transportation, monitoring and collecting expense information.
Research event venues and provide feedback to supervisor on venue recommendations
Interview, screen, and select candidates for the Green and Gold Ambassador program
Coordinate Green and Gold Ambassador training, including but not limited to, etiquette, philanthropy, and networking development.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited US Dept of Education or internationally recognized institution
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to achieve project deadlines
• Attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and perform as a valued team member
• Ability to exercise good judgment and to use discretion in interactions with prospects, donors, and volunteers
• Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, as needed
• Proficient in MS Office
• Professional experience working in higher education and/or in a nonprofit organization
• Paid or volunteer fundraising experience
• Paid or volunteer special event coordination and planning experience
• Proven ability to conduct research and analyze information to prepare effective reports and proposals
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing ability
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse community
