Brockport Symphony Orchestra Spring 2018 Rehearsals to Begin on Thursday, January 25
Celebrating its eighth innovative season, the Brockport Symphony Orchestra is not affiliated with the Department of Theatre and Music Studies. This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts at the Livingston Arts Center, a member-supported organization.
The award-winning Brockport Symphony Orchestra, founded and directed by Jonathan Allentoff '14 and professor emeritus Dr. William Hullfish, will begin spring rehearsals on Thursday, January 25, at 7:30 pm in the Music Room at Cornerstone Academy, 60 Holley Street at Utica (adjacent to campus and on the campus shuttle). We have select openings available, and we'd love to welcome you into our musical family! To join, please send your name and instrument to: email@example.com
The Brockport Symphony Orchestra will be preparing for their "Global Connections" Concert with the Amadeus Chorale on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 7 pm at Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church in Rochester. The program features symphonic masterpieces by Dvorak, Elgar, Gliere, and Puccini, as well as uplifting choral/orchestral works and folk songs from across the globe. Tickets are available online at the link below.
In addition, the orchestra will perform its "Soloist Showcase" Concert on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 4 pm in the historic sanctuary at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The program includes a world premiere work by internationally-acclaimed composer-in-residence Emmanuel Sikora, Hollywood favorites, and symphonic masterpieces by Albinoni, Mahler, and Mozart featuring an exciting lineup of special guests.
Allentoff recently returned from the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, where he appeared on multiple panels regarding the future of music education, participated in conducting clinics with Maestro Eugene Corporon of the University of North Texas College of Music and the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and James Jordan of the Oxford Choral Institute, performed on viola and Yamaha's new electric viola, and met with authors Sandra Dackow and Bob Phillips. He is excited to share his new insights with everyone in the Brockport Symphony Orchestra.
