Journey to Ivory Coast: A Dance and Music Immersion.

An exceptional opportunity is happening this Saturday that you don’t want to miss!
Sankofa Dance and Drum Ensemble is hosting a diversity event on February 3rd from 1-3 pm. This lecture-demonstration/master class will be led by guest artist, Jean Claude Lessou.

Nature of Event: Lecture-Demonstration Master Class
Ivory Coast native, Jean Claude Lessou will facilitate a lecture-demonstration Master Class. It will be a dance and drum extravaganza beginning with a short dialogue on Ivory Coast Life and Culture. Lessou will discuss his transition to the US and his experiences with inclusion. This cultural exchange continues with an Ivorian dance and drum class filled with high energy and traditional sparks. After the class, participants will be invited to participate in the Ivory Coast dance during the Sankofa Dance and Drum concert in April.
This event is graciously hosted by Sankofa African Dance and Drum Ensemble in collaboration with the Department of African and African American Studies, The School of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Dance.
