Senior Counselor Employment Opportunity - Internal Applicants Only
The position of Senior Counselor working as a member of the Educational Opportunity Program staff plays a very important and intricate part of the Educational Opportunity Program operation. The Senior Counselor is responsible for providing support services to an assigned group of students in the areas of academic, financial, personal, social, and career development at the College. The person filling this position will become part of a team working to provide the services necessary to achieve a high level of academic success in EOP at The College at Brockport.

Minimum Salary: $51,366
Provide counseling to an assigned caseload of approximately seventy five students. This includes, but is not limited to, areas of personal advisement, career advisement, academic advisement, and financial aid, to include:
Providing academic counseling/advisement to a caseload
Being knowledgeable about financial aid programs and be able to counsel students in the area of student financial aid
Working with Financial Aid and Student Accounts concerning the student aid and billing process
Providing advisement and counseling to each student assigned in the process of making and pursuing a career choice
Meeting and assisting each assigned student regarding each course in which they are registered each semester in order to provide guidance and academic assistance
Supervise one graduate counselor with:
Planning and development of a program or project assigne
Assisting with, and being a reference in the completion of those tasks assigned
Maintain and impart timely and accurate information on college academic and financial requirements to students.
Work collaboratively with the campus community for the purpose of recruiting, retaining, and graduating a diverse EOP student body, including:
Assisting the admissions Office in the follow up of applicants to EOP at the College
Serve on campus committees:
Representing the EOP Office on a campus committee as needed
Teach one freshman GEP Self College Career Course:
Providing the instruction as outlined by a syllabus to those freshmen registered during the fall semester
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited US Dept of Education or internationally recognized institution
Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally and ethnically diverse population
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated supervisory experience
Demonstrated experience in assessment of student learning outcomes
Experience with SCT Banner, Angel and/or other student management software
Master’s degree in counseling, educational administration or a related field from an accredited US Dept of Education or internationally recognized institution
Significant experience in college counseling to include academic advisement, career, personal and financial aid counseling
Experience in Higher Education with Opportunity Programs or related programs (EOP, HEOP, SEEK)
Experience developing and coordinating events and/or programs
Knowledge of the development and management of a budget
