2nd Annual SBTE Recognition Dinner a Success!
On Monday, March 5, the 2nd Annual School-Based Teacher Educator (SBTE) Recognition Dinner was held in the New York Room on campus. Faculty, staff and administrators from the Education Department welcomed 24 SBTEs, who hosted 50-hour field experience candidates during the 2017-2018 AY, to a relaxing evening of music, conversation and dinner. The following school districts were represented: Albion, Brockport, East Irondequoit, Greece, Hilton, Monroe 2 BOCES, Mt. Morris and Rochester. The 2018 NYS Teacher of the Year, Mr. Christopher Albrecht, provided a welcome and introduction. Mr. Derek Baird, 1st grade teacher at Village ES in Hilton, was the 37th recipient of the Roy Bubb Award. This award recognizes an excellent elementary school teacher who has served as a role model and made outstanding contributions to the professional growth of prospective teachers enrolled in the Childhood Inclusive Program at Brockport. Since fall 2004, Derek has hosted our teacher candidates 21 times for both field experience and student teaching.
