Is Your Information at Risk?

Please be wary of people offering “To Good to Be True” opportunities through our e-mail system. While our e-mail system does protect us from some scam e-mail messages, it does not catch them all.

In the last month, Brockport was hit with a Phishing attempt involving an opportunity for a “Pet Sitter”. The e-mail looked convincing because it originated from a Brockport email address. However, it contained all of the hallmarks of a scam. In the “Pet Sitter” example, the reply-to address was a Gmail address, not a Brockport address. The scammer also instructed unwitting victims to give away information from an e-mail account not managed by our organization.

If you need assistance, please feel free to contact the Brockport Service Desk at (585) 395-5151, option 1.
