"Digital Punishment" Talk on Thursday October 25, 7 pm in McCue Auditorium

Dr. Sarah Lageson from the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University - Newark will present on "'Digital Punishment' Through Online Criminal Records in the U.S."

Dr. Sarah Lageson discusses "Digital Punishment" Through Online Criminal Records, Thursday October 25, 7 pm, McCue Auditorium

On Thursday October 25, 7 pm, in McCue Auditorium, Dr. Sarah Lageson, a sociologist from the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University - Newark, will present on "'Digital Punishment' Through Online Criminal Records in the U.S." She will discuss how the growth of online crime data, mugshots, and criminal records that remain publicly available, create new forms of 'digital punishment' with troubling consequences.

Her work has been featured in Salon, The New York Times, The Guardian, The San Francisco Examiner, and many other newspapers and blogs.

Her visit is co-sponsored by the Departments of Sociology and Criminal Justice as well as the American Democracy Project.
