The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education at The College at Brockport, State University of New York, invites applications for a Lecturer position in Sport Management to begin August 2019. We particularly welcome applications from populations historically underrepresented in the academy and/or who have experience working in diverse populations.

Major Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Sport Management and graduate courses in Athletic Administration

• Serve on department and college-wide committees.

• Attend and participate in department meetings, including faculty meetings and Sport Management major meetings.

• Represent the department at college-wide events such as Final Registration, Open House and Accepted Students Day, Graduate Open House.

• Advise approximately 40 students per semester.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage faculty, staff and students in a collegial and collaborative manner.

Required Qualifications

Master of Science degree in Sport Management, Athletic Administration or related field from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university; ability to teach courses in Sport Management and Athletic Administration; ability to teach a diverse student body; ability to develop and oversee the Sport Management Lab; and, ability to provide service to the department and college

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching at the college level; experience with the use of technology in teaching; and, demonstrated ability to effectively engage faculty, staff and students in a collegial and collaborative manner.

Department Description

The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies and Physical Education maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses five majors: Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education-Teacher Education and Sport Management. It is also home to a concentration in Adapted Physical Education, a minor in Coaching and a Graduate program. Graduate tracks include Adapted Physical Education, Athletic Administration, and Pedagogy. This is a highly productive department with a workforce committed to student success.

The College

The College at Brockport, State University of New York, serves a diverse student body of over 7,100 undergraduate and 1,100 graduate students enrolled in 50 undergraduate majors and more than 50 masters’ programs, teacher certification programs and advanced graduate certificates supported by more than 750 instructional faculty and professional staff. Located in western New York, the College benefits from a small town atmosphere located near major metropolitan cities; 16 miles west of Rochester, 45 miles east of Buffalo, and 140 miles from Toronto.

Salary and Benefits

Competitive salary commensurate with experience. We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurances, health care and dependent care savings accounts, life insurance, and retirement. This position will offer an initial 1 year contract followed by a 2 year contract and subsequent 3 year renewable contracts based on performance.
