The Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC), part of The College at Brockport, State University of New York, and located in downtown Rochester invites applications for an Admissions Advisor. The REOC delivers comprehensive, community-based academic and workforce development programs and provides support services leading to enhanced employment opportunities, access to further education, personal growth and development.

The Admissions Advisor is responsible for recruiting applicants to meet the REOC target enrollment goal determined by University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD). This role includes determining eligibility of prospective students to attend the REOC. The Admissions Advisor explores the program offerings with the applicant and guides them in determining the appropriate career choice. The Admissions Advisor assists prospective students through the application and registration process.

Major Responsibilities

• Provide recruitment and admissions intake for new and continuing students.

• Provide academic advisement to applicants regarding programs and services.

• Provide assistance in the assessment of prospective students through screening, testing and evaluating scores: TABE, CREST.

• Support the Registrar's Office with student registration by registering students, taking photo ids, and inputting student information into the Banner system.

• Create and send out appropriate correspondence to prospective students.

• Deliver presentations and attend REOC recruitment events to market and promote programs to prospective students.

• Participate in UCAWD directed projects as requested.

• Provide weekend and evening coverage for recruitment events.

• Provide evening office coverage one evening per week during the fall and spring semesters.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting institution; ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty, staff and students; strong oral and written communication skills, good problem solving and organizational skills; ability to operate a computer; and, experience working with culturally-diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting institution; experience as a counselor or advisor of students/clients; experience working in an Admissions Office; experience working with a non-traditional adult student population; bilingual; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint); and, experience working with Banner.
