Donate $5 & Wear "Blue Jeans for Babies" on Friday for World Prematurity Day!
Brockport's Inter-Greek Council is comprised of seven fraternities and sororities here at the college: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity Inc, Phi Sigma Sigma, Pi Kappa Phi and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. This year again, our philanthropy project is to support the March of Dimes, an organization geared towards funding research to help find the causes and prevention's for premature birth.
March of Dimes holds a world-wide event called "Blue Jeans for Babies" that will be held on Friday, November 16th in honor of World Prematurity Day (November 17th). Awareness is raised for this cause by wearing the color purple and/or jeans on that day. All the money that is raised gets filtered into research and providing moms-to-be with services needed for a healthy pregnancy.
Again this year, the Inter-Greek Council is encouraging the entire campus to participate. If you are interested in helping to take part in this event, for a small donation of $5 you can wear purple and/or jeans as a way of showing your support.
The following offices and departments are participating as locations to drop off your $5 donation and pick up your #IHeartBabies donation sticker.
- Student Union & Activities, B105 Seymour College Union
- UUP Office, B4G Cooper Hall
- Public Health and Health Education Office, 23 Hartwell Hall
- School of Education, Health and Human Performance Office, 259 Albert W. Brown Building
- Residential Life / Learning Communities Office, Thompson Hall, west wing
On Friday, Inter-Greek Council will also be tabling in the Union from 11 am-1 pm in the Main Lounge, if you would like to stop by to find out more information and donate.
All donations will be sent to March of Dimes at the conclusion of the event.
We are encouraging the Brockport community to share your jean/purple pictures via social media using the #IHeartBabies and #Brockport hashtags.
