The Department of Education and Human Development offers two undergraduate initial teacher certification programs—Childhood Inclusive Education and Adolescence Inclusive Generalist Education—and a number of graduate and certificate programs.

Our programs prepare graduates to meet the highest professional teacher standards for certification in New York State. The department's faculty and staff are committed to preparing graduates who will be agents of change within the larger community and leaders who will promote and advance educational reforms, which improve student learning.

The Department of Education and Human Development is a member of the Professional Education Unit (PEU) at The College at Brockport and is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for its teacher certification programs.

Alumni of our programs serve as classroom teachers, consultant teachers, reading specialists, and literacy coaches and become leaders in the field, recognized for their accomplishments and achievements.
