Our mission is to serve as the voice and advocate for our students. RHA creates a safe environment for self expression and open-mindedness. The RHA supports all members of the campus community no matter their identity, background or position. The RHA advocates for personal growth and leadership, while it creates a network of opportunities. We represent and communicate events happening in the Residential Community. The RHA is the governmental voice of the residence halls. By providing opportunities for leadership and advocacy, we strive to help residents enjoy and impact their experience at the College at Brockport.
The purpose of RHA is to unite the residence halls across campus at The College at Brockport and broaden their sense of community.
Who can become a member of RHA?
Any student who is an on-campus living student can be a member of RHA.
Upon moving into your Residence Hall this Fall, ask your Resident Assistant (RA) or Resident Director (RD) about getting involved with your Residence Council. In Residence Council, there will be specific leadership positions (President, RHA Representative, etc.) in each building. Elections will be held for each position the second week of the Semester
General Body Meeting Dates:
All meetings at 8:00pm in MacVicar Smart Classroom
September 6, 20
November 1, 15
Building Council Position Descriptions:
The President leads Building General Body meetings, meets with the Building Advisor on a weekly basis and communicates with other residence Area Council Presidents. This individual is also expected to attend the RHA General Meetings.
The RHA Representative works closely with the Executive Board and Advisor. This individual takes notes at meetings and disseminates information to all Area Council members in General Body Meetings. RHA Representatives are required to attend RHA General Body Meetings.
Want to have a say, but not hold a position? Stay in the loop by attending Building General Body Meetings. Have a say in the programming efforts of the Building Councils.
All students living on-campus are automatically members of RHA. RHA is organized to maximize the flow of information from the building councils through to the Executive Board. Each building council has a representative on the RHA General Assembly.
General Body Meetings:
The President and RHA Representative of each building council will be responsible for attending the RHA General Assembly meetings. These meetings are the business meetings for RHA. The building council Presidents will act as the voice for their halls and will be the voting members of the assembly. The weekly meetings will be run by the Executive Board President.
The General Assembly will receive updates from each member of the Executive Board. It is expected that the members of General Assembly will disseminate the information that they receive at each meeting back to their Building Council.
