MAJOR RESERVATION - Who is eligible

If the major department is participating in Major Reservation, matriculated undergraduates may register for courses only in their major discipline directly in their major department office during Major Reservation week. For example: A Communication major could register only for CMC courses in the Communication Department office. Students should check with their major department to see if they will be participating in Major Reservation. Major reservation takes place the week before Advance Registration.

Other courses that will make up the rest of the student’s schedule, even major courses that were not registered in the department, must be registered on the student’s regularly scheduled registration day according to the Registration Schedule. Go to Major Reservation for more information.

ADVANCE REGISTRATION - Who is eligible?

  • Matriculated Undergraduate Students - Currently enrolled matriculated undergraduates are eligible for advance registration for an upcoming spring or fall semester. Advance registration for matriculated undergraduates is in November for the next spring semester and in April for the next fall. The number of completed credits and first letters of the student’s last name designate their scheduled registration day. Once signed on to the system go to the Registration menu and click Check Your Registration Status to get your student status for registration. Then go to Registration Schedule to find your scheduled registration day. Please note that courses currently in progress do not count toward completed credits for purposes of registration. Matriculated undergraduates can register any day after their scheduled registration day, but not before it.
  • Matriculated Graduate Students - Currently enrolled matriculated graduates are eligible for advance registration for an upcoming spring or fall semester. Advance registration is usually in November for the next spring semester and in April for the next fall. Advance registration for matriculated graduates starts the week before matriculated undergraduate registration starts. Go to Registration Schedule to find your scheduled registration day.
  • Non-matriculated Undergraduate Students - Currently enrolled non-matriculated graduate students are eligible for advance registration. Any questions regarding the application process should be directed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, (585) 395-2751.
  • Non-matriculated Graduate Students - A non-matriculated (non-degree) graduate is a student who has earned at least a baccalaureate degree but has not been accepted to a graduate program at Brockport. Currently enrolled non-matriculated graduate students are eligible for advance registration and can register online. New non-matriculated graduate students who have only taken courses during a summer or winter session must apply for non-degree status before they can register for a spring or fall semester. Go to Registration Schedule for your registration start date. For more information on non-degree status, contact the Office of Graduate Admissions, (585) 395-5465.
